My first post goes out to Steve Aoki, so congratulations Steve,
on being the first shout out on an unknown blog deriving from
the cultural hotspot known as Calgary, Alberta. His show was
the perfect bangin' dirty bassline electro show, which is
thankfully becoming more and more common these days in
Calgary. The crowd was initially only alright, as there were lots
of drunk-as-fuck people stumbling only partially in time with
the music, but Steve was the perfect remedy for that, as he
brought the noise massively and the crowd loved every second.
So to thank Steve I would like to make available the centerpiece
of the show, WARP 1.9, featuring Steve Aoki as well as the
Bloody Beetroots.
This track is massive, filthy, noisy, loud, and most of all,
fucking awesome. In fact it was so cool that he played it twice,
possibly even three times depending on how bad my memory
fromthe night was. Be warned, it is best played in the middle
of a massive night.
Steve Aoki's label, Dim Mak, has quite a few decent DJs gracing
its roster, including Armand Van Helden, Felix Cartal, Shinichi
Osawa, and Canada's dirty beat kings MSTRKRFT. While their
newest album, Fist of God, is only decent, A-Trak, another
legendary Canadian, put out a pretty unreal remix of the lead
single Bounce. It retains the dirty roots of the original but gives
it a bit more groove and subtlety. ENJOY BITCHES
